Fourth Sri Lanka ODI put back
The fourth one-day international between Sri Lanka and India - scheduled to take place tomorrow - has been postponed until Wednesday due to rain.
A persistent drizzle which began around noon refused to let up at the R Premadasa Stadium, resulting in the entire field of play being protected under covers.
Play was scheduled to start at 2.30pm local time, but the toss could not take place due to the rain.
The India team initially returned to their hotel while the Sri Lankans and several spectators chose to remain at the ground in the hope some play would be possible.
Umpires Billy Doctrove of West Indies and Gamini Silva of Sri Lanka finally called off the match at 6pm local time.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni's tourists lead the five-match series 2-1 and were looking to wrap up the series on Tuesday, but now have to wait and hope the weather improves on Wednesday.
