All-rounder James Franklin struck an unbeaten 104 yesterday, having taken 5-30 in 13 overs on day one at Bristol
New Zealand have called up James Franklin to their ICC Champions Trophy squad, ruling the all-rounder out of the remainder of Gloucestershire’s LV= County Championship Division Two match against Kent.
Franklin replaces fellow all-rounder Jacob Oram, who pulled a hamstring in training ahead of the Black Caps’ five-wicket defeat to hosts South Africa in their Group B opener.
Franklin, who will fly to South Africa tonight, retires on 104 not out in Gloucestershire’s overnight 439 for five, in reply to Kent’s 264 all out in which he took 5-30 in 13 overs.
Anthony Ireland replaces Franklin in the remaining two days of the match at Bristol and is allowed to bat in both innings.
New Zealand face Sri Lanka on Sunday, when Gloucestershire play their final match of the season against Nottinghamshire in NatWest Pro40 Division One, and England on Tuesday.
