West Indies captain Chris Gayle has been ruled out of the first Test against Australia with a groin injury.
The 28-year-old opening batsman sustained the problem last month during the Windies' one-day series against Sri Lanka.
Gayle's fellow opener, Sewnarine Chattergoon, is also sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Ramnaresh Sarwan, who will feature alongside Dwayne Bravo and Shivnarine Chanderpaul following their Indian Premier League exploits, will skipper the team in the first Test which gets under way on May 22 at Sabina Park.
