TwelfthMan: My account
Paul Harris took four wickets as South Africa completed their preparations for the opening Test against Australia with a draw in their final warm-up match against a Western Australia Second XI.
The Proteas, who made 320 for eight on day one, dismissed their opponents for 280 on the second and final day at the WACA.
South Africa decided not to bat again with an hour left to play.
Slow left-armer Harris finished with figures of 4-94, while Dale Steyn and Tsotsobe Lonwabo took two wickets each.
Matt Johnston made 83 for WA and Aaron Heal added 68 in match which provided the tourists with the ideal setting to test injury concerns Graeme Smith (elbow), Harris (thumb), Steyn (hamstring) and Morne Morkel (ankle).
Wicketkeeper Mark Boucher did not take the field today, though, after suffering an ankle injury on day one, which was headlined by AB de Villiers' 129, 69 for Neil McKenzie and an unbeaten 59 from the in-form Hashim Amla.
Proteas captain Smith was pleased with the workout given to his players.
“You can never match the intensity of a Test in a warm-up game,” he said.
“What we did achieve was to put a good base in place and work on our game plans for the battles ahead.”
The first Test against Australia gets under way on Wednesday in Perth.
