Hayden ruled out
Matthew Hayden has joined skipper Ricky Ponting and paceman Brett Lee on the sidelines for Australia's one-day series against Bangladesh, which begins on Saturday in Darwin.
The veteran opener has struggled with an Achilles tendon injury over the past few months, with medical staff recommending he stay at home in Brisbane in order to continue his rehabilitation.
Hayden was officially ruled out of the series today as the rest of the Australia squad gathered at Allan Border Field in Brisbane for a two-day training camp before departing for Darwin.
He is hopeful of being fit for Australia's four-Test series against India in October.
Ponting will also miss the three-match one-day series against Bangladesh after having wrist surgery, while Lee was granted leave following the breakdown of his marriage.
Michael Clarke has been handed the captaincy in Ponting's absence.
