Hodge happy with hundred
Brad Hodge has been bullish about his chances of restarting his stalled international career and an unbeaten century against South Australia will have done them no harm.
"I think from the moment I got to the crease it's one of my better performances," the 32-year-old said of his knock for Victoria against South Australia.
"I was really determined to do well. I need to keep marching on and that's all I can do and that's all I've been doing."
Hodge donned the green and gold in the Commonwealth Bank Series match against England in Brisbane last week as a one-off replacement for the rested Ricky Ponting.
Batting at number three, he failed to score before James Anderson had him caught by Jamie Dalrymple.
However, he still took plenty from the match, in which he took two catches.
"It's been a good start to 2007 for me personally,” he said. “I represented Australia in the one-day side, didn't score a run, but you're still there."
"I enjoyed the game (against South Australia) and to start off with a century after missing the Sydney game, I couldn't be happier with my game personally."
Hodge's Test career spans just five matches but includes a brilliant 203 not out against South Africa in Perth at the end of 2005.
Nevertheless, he was left off the tour of South Africa in 2006 despite averaging 58.
