The International Cricket Council has responded to speculation that this year’s Champions Trophy may be moved by announcing a security briefing this week.
The tournament is due to be held in Pakistan in September, but concerns over the safety of players and spectators in the country has raised the prospect of the competition being played elsewhere.
While the ICC refuses to “indulge in speculation”, it revealed it has invited representatives all the competing teams to attend a meeting in Dubai on Sunday.
The ICC’s security consultants will provide a comprehensive report of arrangements at the recent Asia Cup, although the world’s governing body stressed that “at this stage the tournament will proceed in Pakistan”.
