The ICC have allowed Pakistan to add all-rounder Azhar Mahmood to their World Cup squad as a replacement for the injured Abdul Razzaq.
ICC general manager David Richardson confirmed the decision of the tournament`s technical committee to the Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday.
The PCB made the request after Razzaq was told to rest for three weeks after picking up a knee injury in training.
Mahmood is the second player to be called up in this manner after Stuart Clark replaced Brett Lee in Australia`s 15 last week.
Pakistan are also expected to request replacement players for pace duo Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, who were ruled out of the tournament on Thursday through injury.
The World Cup gets underway on March 13, when Pakistan face hosts West Indies in Jamaica.
