Moises Henriques will join up with the Australia one-day party ahead of the third match of the series in Delhi on Saturday
Australia have added all-rounder Moises Henriques to their one-day squad in India to provide cover for James Hopes.
Henriques, who helped New South Wales win the recent Champions League Twenty20 in India, was called up after Hopes was all but ruled out of the second and third matches due to a hamstring injury.
Brett Lee will also play no part in Nagpur tomorrow due to an elbow problem, while fellow pace bowler Mitchell Johnson is unlikely to feature due to an ankle injury.
Australia triumphed by four runs in the first game of the seven-match series in Vadodara on Sunday, a game which saw Hopes damage a hamstring during India's unsuccessful chase.
That means Doug Bollinger, Ben Hilfenhaus and Jon Holland are all in contention for a bowling spot while Shaun Marsh may be recalled at the top of the order, with Tim Paine dropping down.
Henriques will leave Australia tonight before arriving in Delhi tomorrow and joining the squad when it reaches Delhi on Thursday.
National selection panel chairman Andrew Hilditch said “With James Hopes' right hamstring injury being more serious, we have taken this opportunity to add Moises Henriques to the squad until the completion of game four in Mohali, where we will again assess the situation before it is decided if he remains with the squad.”
India, meanwhile, are expected to welcome back explosive batsman Yuvraj Singh after he recovered from a finger injury sustained during the Champions Trophy.
His return is a welcome boost for skipper MS Dhoni, who said: “Yuvraj has been the backbone of our batting line-up, especially because he bats at number four and at a time when the ball is changed and the second powerplay comes into the picture.
“Someone with the capabilities of Yuvraj at that stage is a huge help and it’s not just his batting, but his bowling as well.
“With him around you have the luxury of another part-time bowler so even if the others have a poor day, you have one more option.”
Although Dhoni refused to name his XI, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to make way for Yuvraj’s inclusion.
