The Board of Control for Cricket in India is unconcerned over former India coach Greg Chappell's new role as the assistant coach of Australia.

Chappell was coach of India from 2005 to 2007 and still works with the Rajasthan Cricket Academy, where the tourists are currently practising.

Chappell's stint with the Indian team was controversy-filled and ended with India's first round exit at the World Cup in the Caribbean.

The head of Cricket Australia's Centre of Excellence, Chappell is now helping the Australians in their bid to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

"We have no issues with his new role," said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.

"He's no longer with us.”

Shah said Chappell had failed with India because of his inability to communicate with the players directly.

"Rather than talking to the players directly he was seen communicating to the players through the media,” Shah added.

"By that I do not mean a coach should be essentially low-profile in his approach. Rather, he should be like a father figure to the players.

"It's also important that he limits airing his views in the media."
