A back injury has cut short Australia opener Phil Jaques' tour of India.
Jaques has been sent home to see a specialist over the problem which saw him lose his place to Simon Katich.
A decision on Jaques' replacement on the tour will be made in the next few days.
"Phil has had a longstanding problem with his lower back that has been manageable up until now," said team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris.
"The point has come where the injury is significantly limiting his ability to play, so he will return to Australia to seek specialist opinion on the best course of action."
The second Test of the series in Mohali is currently taking place, the first match at Bangalore having been drawn.
