Kamran Khan has sprung to prominence in this year's IPL, but the legality of his bowling action is under investigation

Rajasthan Royals left-arm fast bowler Kamran Khan has been reported for a suspect bowling action, the Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi has said.

Kamran, who was signed up for a meagre US$ 24,000 dollars by the Royals, has so far impressed in the tournament taking six wickets at an average of 20.66 in five matches.

The 18-year-old was reported by on-field umpires Rudi Koertzen and Gary Baxter at the end of Rajasthan Royals’ game against the Chennai Super Kings yesterday.

Koertzen and Baxter, as well as television umpire Amish Saheba and match referee Gundappa Vishwanath, reviewed television footage of Kamran’s action and found that it contravened section 24/3 of the MCC’s laws of the game.

Kamran’s action has now been referred to the Royals’ team management and the IPL’s Technical Committee.

“I have officially received a copy of the umpires report duly signed by all the three umpires and the video footage for the game at Centurion,” Modi said.

“The matter has now been referred to the team management and the technical committee.

“We will decide on further action once the technical committee submits its report.”
