Australia paceman Brett Lee is confident the spin of Brad Hogg can still secure his team a record-equalling 16th successive Test win against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Lee claimed five wickets on day three of the second Test, but an unbeaten 154 from Sachin Tendulkar put the tourists in the driving seat.

Australia will resume their second innings on 13 without loss - 56 runs behind India - but Lee is confident a wearing fifth-day track would suit Hogg when the hosts come in to bowl again.

"There is a chance of us winning this match, definitely," Lee said.

"At any stage of the game, we do think we have a chance of winning the match.

"It's going to be hard work taking 10 wickets on the last day. We have to make sure that we do get a few runs first so as to allow us time to try and take 10 wickets."

Hogg, who removed Sourav Ganguly on day three, is in good enough form to trouble the tourists, according to Lee.

"We'll put our faith in Brad Hogg. The way he's been bowling the past 12 months has been absolutely brilliant, and there's no doubt he's in great form," Lee said. "He's definitely going to play a huge role on day five."

Hogg finished with 2-121 as India posted 532 in the first innings.

Despite the run fest, Lee was able to take his first five-wicket haul on his home ground.

"Personally, it was great to take five wickets and finally get my name up above that board on the Sydney Cricket Ground changing room, which I'm really, really proud about," Lee said.
