MacGill calls it a day
Australia leg-spinner Stuart MacGill has announced he will quit international cricket at the end of the second Test against West Indies.
The 37-year-old made his Test debut against South Africa 10 years ago and had taken 207 wickets at an average of 28.28 going into the match in Antigua, his 44th Test.
But in a statement today MacGill admitted it is time to hand over the baton.
“Unfortunately now my time is up,” he said. “I am incredibly lucky that as well as providing me with amazing opportunities off the field, my job allows me to test myself in one of Australia’s most highly scrutinised sporting environments.”
