Kumar Sangakkara is included in the squad despite being advised to rest following a finger operation
The uncapped Angelo Mathews has been named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the tour of Zimbabwe next month.
The 21-year-old all-rounder - a former captain of the Under-19s - is included in a 15-man touring party after impressing for Sri Lanka A in South Africa recently.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara also features despite concerns over a finger injury - he underwent surgery last month - but veterans Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas will not travel.
Batsman Jayasuriya is on South African domestic duty for the Dolphins, while left-arm seamer Vaas opted out of the tour.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, who served as vice-captain to Mahela Jayawardene during the recent quadrangular Twenty20 series in Canada, and Chamara Silva have been dropped.
Sri Lanka are due to arrive in Harare on November 10. They will play five one-day internationals, the first of which takes place at Harare Sports Club on November 21, as well as two practice games and a four-day and one-day match against representative sides.
