Miandad returns to PCB
Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has been reinstated as the director general of the Pakistan Cricket Board following a dispute.
Miandad was appointed director general of the PCB in November last year, but quit a day after receiving a formal contract in January.
Miandad had said the reason he quit was because the scope of his powers had been severely scaled down in his written contract.
Following a meeting with PCB chairman Ijaz Butt today, Miandad was reinstated.
“It was a very cordial meeting and he is back as director general,” Butt said.
“The good thing is that he is back with us and that’s a positive development for Pakistan cricket,” he said.
Pakistan media had reported Miandad quit because of an issue over salary. Miandad, however, denied those reports.
“Everything is settled and I am happy to be back with the cricket board,” Miandad said.
“Salary was never an issue. I just want to work for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.”
