Proteas recall Morkel in Elgar absence

Albie Morkel last played for South Africa in November 2010 but could add to his 51 ODIs during the five-game rubber with Sri Lanka
A knee injury to the uncapped Dean Elgar has seen Albie Morkel take the opening batsman’s place in South Africa’s squad for the one-day series with Sri Lanka.
All-rounder Morkel last represented his country in November 2010 and can now add to his 51 ODIs in the five-game rubber that begins on Wednesday in Paarl.
Elgar suffered the setback in South Africa’s domestic first-class competition. "It is feared that he may have suffered a ligament injury, which could necessitate surgery," Cricket South Africa said in a media release.
Paceman Wayne Parnell sustained a pinched nerve in the same tournament but has been cleared for the ODIs.
South Africa squad: AB de Villiers (captain & wicketkeeper), Hashim Amla, Johan Botha, JP Duminy , Francois du Plessis, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Albie Morkel, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Robin Peterson, Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
