Abbott covers Morkel absence
Uncapped seamer Kyle Abbott has been drafted into South Africa’s squad for the third Test against Pakistan as a replacement for Morne Morkel.
Cricket South Africa today confirmed Morkel will be unavailable in Centurion due to the hamstring problem he picked up in last week’s series-clinching four-wicket win at Newlands.
Rory Kleinveldt, an unused squad member for the first two Tests, is expected to get the not ahead of Abbott.
CSA selection convenor Andrew Hudson said: "Kyle swings the ball nicely and is another player who has earned a call-up through outstanding form at franchise level. He has done extremely well in the Sunfoil Series (South Africa’s domestic first-class competition) this season."
