New faces aplenty for Pakistan
Pakistan have called up five players boasting a solitary Test appearance between them for the tour of South Africa.
Opener Nasir Jamshed, a prolific scorer in international 50-over cricket, is one of four players in line to gain their maiden five-day call.
Haris Sohail, a 24-year-old left-hander boasting a first-class batting average of 53, giant seamer Mohammad Irfan and 19-year-old paceman Ehsan Adil are the other new faces, along with wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed, whose only previous Test outing came in Australia three years ago.
Mohammad Ayub and Afaq Raheem are the batsmen to make way; Adnan Akmal is the victim of Sarfraz’s recall and the selectors have also dispensed with fast bowlers Aizaz Cheema and Mohammad Sami.
The first Test of three begins in Johannesburg on February 1, with further matches to follow at Cape Town and Centurion.
