Neil Wagner, Daniel Flynn and Tarun Nethula have been named in New Zealand's Test squad for the two-match tour of the West Indies.

Three squads were announced by New Zealand Cricket today with South Africa-born Wagner, who had his qualification approved by the International Cricket Council last month, taking his place in the bowling attack at the expense of Tim Southee.

Wagner is accompanied by fellow left-armer Trent Boult, Chris Martin, Mark Gillespie and Doug Bracewell.

Leg-spinner Nethula will share slow-bowling duties with former captain Daniel Vettori, while Flynn has retained his place after being called up during the Black Cap's home series against South Africa.

Missing from the squads are Andy McKay, Colin de Grandhomme and Michael Bates.

Both prospective Test wicketkeepers BJ Watling, who missed the Proteas series due to a hip injury, and Kruger van Wyk have been named in the 15-man squad.

Making his way back into the limited-overs squads is Tom Latham while James Franklin and Brendon McCullum will miss both the shorter forms of the game.

McCullum is being rested, while national selection manager Kim Littlejohn said opportunities would be sought for Doug Bracewell, Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson to be rotated during the future programme.

Franklin will continue his preparation for the World Twenty20 by playing for Essex in this season’s Friends Life t20.

"With the World Twenty20 coming up we felt the best preparation for James would be to play a large number of Twenty20 matches in that competition rather than two matches in this tour," Littlejohn said.

Jacob Oram has also been named in the limited-overs squads after recovering from a calf injury.

The tour starts with a Twenty20 international in Florida on June 30.
