Jacob Oram and Ian Butler have been ruled out of New Zealand’s opening ICC Champions Trophy match against South Africa.
All-rounder Oram injured a hamstring in training and will have a scan to assess the damage.
“We’re hopeful it’s just a minor tear but we will have more information in 48 hours so he is out of the game,” coach Andy Moles said.
Fast bowler Butler has a stomach bug and has been unable to train with the team.
“He’s just not fit enough or strong enough to bowl and guarantee that we’ll get 10 overs from him “He’ll be back for the next game I’m sure,” Moles added.
South Africa, in Group B along with England who face Sri Lanka on Friday, lost their opening game to Sri Lanka by 55 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method.
