Saqlain requires knee surgery

Pakistan spin bowler Saqlain Mushtaq needs a second knee operation that may sideline him for a further six months.

After undergoing surgery on his left knee earlier in the year, Saqlain has been told his career will be threatened if he does not have surgery on his right knee.

Saqlain injured his knee playing for Surrey a month later and the bowler faces another lengthy period out of the game after this latest setback.

It is the second blow for the Pakistan squad in less than a week following paceman Umar Gul being diagnosed with stress fractures in his back that may rule him out for up to a year.
