South Africa spinner Robin Peterson, who was called up as a replacement on the tour of Bangladesh, has been named as one of two changes to the squad to tour India later this month.
Peterson was brought in in place of Paul Harris in Bangladesh and claimed a career best of 5-33 in the second Test.
The India tour consists of three Tests in Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kanpur, and will effectively decide which is the second-ranked side in the world behind Australia in the five-day game.
Peterson’s good form sees him join Harris in the spin attack for the Indian tour with Johan Botha being the unlucky player to drop out.
In a second change to the 14-man squad, the experienced Charl Langeveldt has been preferred to Andre Nel in the seam attack.
Langeveldt has played six Test matches for South Africa, the most recent of these against Australia in Sydney in January, 2006.
South Africa squad: G Smith (captain), A Prince (vice-captain), H Amla, M Boucher, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, P Harris, J Kallis, C Langeveldt, N McKenzie, M Morkel, M Ntini, R Peterson, D Steyn.
