Ponting considers Hogg
Australia captain Ricky Ponting has to decide whether to recall spinner Brad Hogg for the fourth test against India, which starts in Adelaide on Thursday.
Ponting played four fast bowlers for the third test last week, on the traditionally pacy WACA Ground in Perth, but lost by 72 runs and go into the final Test 2-1 up.
"We've just got to toss up in our head whether a spin option is the way to go or if we try and use pace with variable bounce late in the game," Ponting said.
"Historically spin has been the preferred option for the Australian team to play in most conditions around the world."
During the four-match series, the Australian team has continually battled against a slow over rate, and Ponting admits that the issue is something he will have to deal with if he does choose to include four fast bowlers.
"(We'll need to) just mix and match and use some part-timers a bit earlier in the day's play and get through some overs there so you're not caught at the end of the day or the back end of an innings," he said.
"We now know if we play the four fast bowlers a lot of onus comes back on them, to make sure they are getting through their overs and getting back to the run-ups as quick as they can."
Ponting is confident that his team can rebound after the disappointment from the third Test.
"Individuals rebounding from personal failures is always a good character judgment and I think the same can be said about a team," he said.
"I know you'll see us come out in this game very aggressive and very positive and really try to force the issue in the game."
