South Africa crushed Pakistan by 10 wickets in Cape Town to take a 2-1 lead in the one-day series between the sides.

ICC match referee Chris Broad had warned both sides to cool it after the third ODI, saying he detected a bad atmosphere between the teams.

Pakistan took him rather too literally as their batsmen surrendered meekly for 107 before the Proteas openers spanked the bowlers all over the ground to reach the target off only 14 overs without loss.

Graeme Smith sealed the victory with a huge six to finish unbeaten on 56 while his fellow opener AB de Villiers was unbowed on 50 - he was dropped on 45 by Mohammad Asif.

Smith’s runs came off 44 balls and included six fours and two sixes, while De Villiers had bludgeoned seven fours and a six off 40 balls.

Earlier, South Africa wicket-keeper Mark Boucher took a world record six catches as Pakistan were bowled out for a paltry 107 in the fourth ODI - the third had been declared a no-result.

It was another record for Boucher who had broken Ian Healy's world record for Test match catches in a career in the recently completed Test series with South Africa.

Shaun Pollock put in a fine bowling performance for the Proteas which set the tone for his team-mates.

Before a run had been scored, Pollock removed opener Imran Nazir who got an inside edge which was caught by Boucher.

Kamran Akmal's miserable tour continued when he was run out after slipping with Herschelle Gibbs providing the throw to reduce Pakistan to six for two.

Akmal has lost his way in South Africa with several crucial dropped catches in the Test series and some indifferent displays as one-day opener.

Pollock then removed Younis Khan for eight with Jacques Kallis taking the catch at second slip.

It was his last wicket but Pollock would finish with two for 13 off his 10 overs.

Mohammad Yousuf is this year not yet showing the record-breaking form of 2006 and he next departed when he edged Andrew Hall to Boucher for 21.

Inzamam-ul-Haq was proving a formidable obstacle but his partners were not.

Shoaib Malik tickled a Justin Kemp ball to Boucher for 19 and then Abdul Razzaq was bowled by Kallis for one.

Boucher took three consecutive catches to remove Azhar Mahmood (one), Rana Naved-ul-Hasan (three) and Abdur Rehman (duck).

Kemp, Makhaya Ntini and Charl Langeveldt were the bowlers.

Last man out was Asif who was bowled for a duck by Hall with Inzamam left unbeaten on 45.
