Bangladesh spinner Abdur Razzak has been immediately suspended from bowling in international cricket after it was deemed his action exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance allowed.
An independent analysis undertaken by Dr Marc Portus, of the ICC Panel of Human Movement Specialists, found that the left-armer’s stock delivery ranged between 22 to 28 degrees, with an average of 25.
Razzak’s quicker ball also ranged from 22 to 28 degrees, with an average of 24.
The 26-year-old was reported for a suspect illegal bowling action by ICC Elite panel umpires Daryl Harper and Asoka de Silva, following the second Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at Dhaka in October.
Razzak, who has played five Tests and 91 limited-overs internationals, has the right to lodge an appeal against the test within 14 days of receiving the report.
He can apply for reassessment of his bowling action after he has modified it in accordance with clause G of the regulations for the review of bowlers with suspect bowling actions.
Portus’ test was undertaken at the Biomechanics Department of the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra on November 17.
