Redmond replaces Ryder
New Zealand have been given permission to include Aaron Redmond in their ICC Champions Trophy squad in the place of injured batsman Jesse Ryder.
Ryder suffered a groin injury while batting in the Black Caps’ 38-run win over Sri Lanka in Johannesburg and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.
Redmond is yet to play a one-day international but will now be available for New Zealand’s final group game against England at the Wanderers on Tuesday, when a Black Caps victory would secure them a place in the semi-finals.
New Zealand have already made a change to their squad due to injury after all-rounder Jacob Oram strained a hamstring and was replaced by James Franklin.
