Proteas and Pakistan bring in reinforcements
South Africa and Pakistan have added bowling cover to their respective squads ahead of next week’s first Test in Johannesburg.
The Proteas have called up Imran Tahir due to doubts over the fitness of their frontline spinner Robin Peterson.
Cricket South Africa selection convenor Andrew Hudson revealed that he expects Peterson to recover from split webbing on his right hand, but added: “It is prudent to have a cover player for him available to take a full part in the team's preparation this week.”

Imran Tahir has been added to South Africa's squad as cover for the first Test with Pakistan, although Robin Peterson is expected to be fit
Tahir was initially omitted from South Africa’s squad, having returned first-innings figures of 0-180 at Adelaide in the second of three Tests with Australia.
Pakistan, meanwhile, have opted to add two pacemen to their touring party, after the team management expressed concern at the depth of resources at their disposal.
Veteran Tanvir Ahmed, who earned the last of his four Test caps in 2011, has been called up along with left-armer Rahat Ali, whose only international appearance came in an ODI against Sri Lanka last June.
The series begins on Friday, with further Tests to follow in Cape Town and Centurion.
