Sarwan handed Windies recall
Ramnaresh Sarwan’s exile from international cricket is set to end after the batsman was included in West Indies’ one-day squad for the tour of Australia.
Sarwan, recently appointed as Leicestershire’s four-day captain for 2013, last featured for the Windies in July 2011 and has since won damages from the West Indies Cricket Board after his fitness was publicly called into question.
However, he has now been welcomed back into the fold and could return in the first ODI of five at Perth on February 1.
Marlon Samuels misses out due to a facial injury he picked up during Australia’s domestic Twenty20 competition, the Big Bash League. In his absence, Narsingh Deonarine has been recalled.
West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (captain), Dwayne Bravo, Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Narsingh Deonarine, Chris Gayle, Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Kieran Powell, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Devon Thomas.
