Chaminda Vaas is one of 16 players named in the squad for the final Test of the series against Pakistan in Colombo
Chaminda Vaas has been recalled to the Sri Lanka Test squad just a fortnight after denying claims he had retired.
The 35-year-old left-arm seamer is part of a 16-man party chosen for the third and final Test against Pakistan in Colombo, with the hosts holding an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
It is a remarkable turnaround for Vaas, who earlier this month dismissed claims from senior figures in Sri Lanka Cricket that he was set to quit the Test arena.
Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara backed Vaas at the time, insisting he still had much to offer the five-day game, and the bowler may now get the chance to repay that faith.
Muttiah Muralitharan misses out once again due to a knee injury.
Squad: Kumar Sangakkara (captain), Mahela Jayawardene, Tharanga Paranavitana, Malinda Warnapura, Thilan Samaraweera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Angelo Matthews, Rangana Herath, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thilan Thushara, Chaminda Vaas, Ajantha Mendis, Chamara Kapugedara, Kaushal Silva, Suranga Lakmal, Dammika Prasad.
