Sri Lanka turn to Ford

Graham Ford makes his way through the offices of Sri Lanka Cricket in Colombo, having been selected as the new coach of the national side
Sri Lanka have sacked Geoff Marsh and appointed Graham Ford as their new coach.
Ford, who last week resigned as coach of South African franchise Dolphins, faces the challenge of reviving the fortunes of a struggling side.
Sri Lanka have lost every Test and one-day series they have played since reaching the final of the World Cup last April, prompting the resignation of captain Tillakaratne Dilshan on Monday.
Ford, a former director of cricket at Kent who also coached South Africa from 1999 to 2001, becomes the fourth man to take charge of Sri Lanka since the World Cup.
Stuart Law and Rumesh Ratnayake both enjoyed brief spells at the helm after Trevor Bayliss stepped down, and Marsh was appointed on a two-year contract in September.
Ford’s first assignment will come in next month’s triangular one-day series with India and hosts Australia.
Mahela Jayawardene, re-appointed as Sri Lanka's skipper in place of Dilshan, said: "Graham is experienced, and we need his services to rebuild, harness new players and win games."
