Former opening batsman Krishnamachari Srikkanth was named chairman of a new selection committee announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
Srikkanth takes over from former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar, whose two-year term ended this month.

The new committee will officially take over from October 1 and one of their first tasks is to pick the Indian team for the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
At the same meeting, Shashank Manohar was unanimously elected president of the BCCI.
Manohar, formerly vice-president from Central Zone representing Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), takes over from Sharad Pawar.
N Srinivasan, treasurer of the BCCI on the earlier panel, was elected secretary of the BCCI.
Srinivasan, who was also elected unopposed, takes over from Niranjan Shah, who becomes vice chairman of the Indian Premier League, a newly created post.
