Durham’s Phil Mustard struck a half-century to help Mountaineers defeat Mashonaland Eagles by 27 runs in the final of Zimbabwe's Stanbic Bank 20 Series in Harare.
Opening batsman Mustard, who signed a five-week deal last month, smashed 54 off just 31 balls to aid a respectable score of 142 for six.
Surrey’s Rory Hamilton-Brown claimed 2-14 from three overs, while Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego, who was later named player of the tournament, and Northamptonshire captain Andrew Hall took a wicket apiece.
In reply, Essex’s Ryan ten Doeschate, opening the innings, Trego and Hamilton-Brown all fell cheaply as the Eagles slumped to 25 for three.
Hall could only add two as he was stumped by Mustard, who also claimed a catch, as the Eagles were bowled out for 115 with Shingirai Masakadza taking 3-21.
Other players to take part in the tournament included Nottinghamshire’s Riki Wessels, Gary Ballance of Yorkshire and Lancashire pair Paul Horton and Tom Smith.
