Australian umpire Darrell Hair has resigned his position to take up a coaching role.
The 55-year-old returned to the International Cricket Council’s elite panel of umpires in March after being removed in the aftermath of the forfeited Brit Oval Test between Pakistan and England in August 2006.
However, he has officiated in only two Tests since his reinstatement and has now quit to become executive officer of the New South Wales Umpires and Scorers Association.
Hair, who stood in 78 Tests, 137 one-day internationals and six Twenty20 internationals, will take up the new role on September 1.
He is currently umpiring in Toronto at a triangular one-day tournament involving West Indies, Bermuda and Canada.
