Vaas and Murali given SL roles
Sri Lanka have appointed Chaminda Vaas as their bowling coach, while Muttiah Muralitharan has been taken on in an advisory capacity.
Vaas, arguably his country’s greatest-ever seamer with 761 international wickets, spent time working with New Zealand’s pacemen prior to the series against Sri Lanka recently.

But he will now turn his attentions to assisting his own nation, much to the delight of Sri Lanka Cricket chief executive Ajit Jayasekara.
He said: “We concluded successful negotiations with Vaas, where we discussed things like pay and his role in the coaching unit.
"He will be the head fast bowling coach, with the present coaches Champaka Ramanayake and Anusha Samaranayake working under him.
“He has taken so many wickets for Sri Lanka, and we are very happy to have concluded our talks to get him into the job. Vaas will also oversee the country's pace bowling academies.”
Sri Lanka were also hoping to take on Muralitharan permanently, but the off-spinner’s participation in several Twenty20 leagues mean that is not possible.
Meanwhile, Michael de Zoysa has been appointed as team manager on a one-year contract.
