Vettori ruled out of Proteas Tests
Daniel Vettori will not play in New Zealand's Tests with South Africa in January, having not recovered from hernia and Achilles injuries.
The 33-year-old bowling all-rounder has missed the Black Caps' last five Tests - versus Sri Lanka, India and West Indies - after initially suffering a groin injury in the Caribbean.
Vettori, a left-arm spinner, sustained the Achilles injury at the World Twenty20, which he came out of T20 international retirement to play in.
New Zealand will play two Tests in South Africa, the first at Cape Town from January 2 and the second at Port Elizabeth from January 11. Their next Tests are versus England in March.
