Shillingford the right currency for Windies
West Indies have brought off-spinner Shane Shillingford into their squad for next week’s second Test against Australia in Port-of-Spain.
Shillingford is the only new name in a 14-man squad after the Windies suffered a heartbreaking three-wicket loss in the first encounter.
The 29-year-old played the last of his five Tests in November 2010, after which his bowling action was deemed illegal on the tour of Sri Lanka.
Having undergone remedial work, he toured Bangladesh last year before claiming 38 wickets in five matches during the recent domestic four-day Caribbean season.
West Indies will look to square the three-match series at the Queen’s Park Oval when the second Test begins on Sunday.
West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (captain), Kirk Edwards, Adrian Barath, Carlton Baugh (wicketkeeper), Devendra Bishoo, Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Fidel Edwards, Kieran Powell, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Shane Shillingford.
