Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sidath Wettimuny revealed he will meet with sports minister Gamini Lokuge before accepting a position in the new-look Interim Committee.
Wettimuny, a right-handed batsman who played 23 Tests for Sri Lanka between 1982 and 1987, scoring 1221 runs at an average of just over 29 before going on to become a match referee, is keen to determine the exact nature of his new role before taking up the post.
“I am likely to meet the sports minister on Wednesday so I can clarify my role in the interim committee”, he said.
“It’s not that I don’t want to accept the challenge but I would like my role in the interim committee to be spelt out before I agree to the offer.”
