West Indies may blood some younger players in the remaining two one-day internationals against South Africa.
With the Proteas having won the first three games, and clinched the five-game one-day series, the Windies will look for a different approach in the last two matches.
Patrick Browne made his international debut in the third ODI in Port Elizabeth and his performance earned praise from coach John Dyson.
“Pat seized the opportunity and I thought he did very well,” said Dyson. “We are thinking about playing him as wicketkeeper in the fourth match.
“(Denesh) Ramdin has played very well, but he has kept wicket in every single match, both in Zimbabwe and here. It might be time to give him a rest, but that's still up for discussion.
“We may also try some new combinations in the last two matches, and see how they work.”
Despite losing the Test series 3-1 and already being 3-0 down in the one-day format, Dyson insists he has reason to be optimistic about West Indies’ future. However, he acknowledges there is much work to be done after being consistently outclassed by their opponents.
“We have played some very good cricket, and there are positives that we can take out of the tour, but on the whole South Africa have batted, bowled and fielded better than we have,” Dyson said.
“Everyone in the team will have to look at himself and see what he can do to improve. With some players, it's just a matter of tinkering a bit, but with others, there is quite a lot of work that can be done.
“But I think it will also make a difference when we have the full team back on the park. It's very hard to play at your best when you lose senior players before the tour and also on the tour.”
