Undermining the seniors

Posted in England Lions

Tomorrow's game against England is a brilliant opportunity for all the Lions players to show Andy Flower and the selectors what we can do.

That includes me. I haven't had the best tour with the bat, but scoring some runs and beating England would be the perfect way to finish up.

As captain, it will be weird walking out for the toss with Alastair Cook. I'm not sure who'll toss the coin!

That aside, the match will be hard fought and competitive. All the Lions are looking forward to it. England won't want to lose to the Lions again.

I was 12th man the last time we played England. That was two years ago in Abu Dhabi, where tomorrow's game takes place, and we won off the last ball.

I remember two special performances from Craig Kieswetter and Michael Lumb. They both got into the England Twenty20 team as a result and won the World Cup. That just shows what can happen.

We have prepared for the game in exactly the same way as we always do. We have made a few plans for their players, but it comes down to nailing the basics and executing your skills on the field.

Craig Kieswetter

Craig Kieswetter played a special innings the last time we played England. He will be on the other side to me tomorrow

We are in confident mood after winning the one-day series in Sri Lanka.

To win on the sub-continent was an awesome effort by the lads and what pleased me most was it came off the back of a series defeat in Bangladesh.

We batted really well and posted more than 300 in the three games we won. There were a couple of special innings from Jos Buttler, plus Kieswetter and Joe Root scored excellent hundreds. Of the bowlers, Danny Briggs and Samit Patel bowled well, as did Nathan Buck.

I hope we can continue that form tomorrow.
