Mohammad Ashraful (capt, 09/09/84)

Made a century in the ODI win over Australia in June 2005 but has struggled with the bat in recently and has seen his average slip to 21.79 in 104 ODIs. Appointed captain in June 2007, the ICC World Twenty20 will test his leadership credentials.

Aftab Ahmed (10/11/85)

Talented young batsman who comes in at three. Has a tendency to throw his wicket away when well set and can struggle against spin. Made 28 on his Twenty20 international debut against Zimbabwe. Useful medium-pacer who took 5-31 against New Zealand in November 2004.

Nadif Chowdhury (21/04/87)

A compact right-handed middle-order batsman who also bowls left-arm spin, he has made only one appearance in Bangladesh colours against Zimbabwe in a Twenty20 international where he made a modest 10 runs. His orthodox spin bowling has brought him 61 wickets in Bangladesh domestic cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan (24/03/87)

One to watch. A young left-arm medium-fast bowler who has blossomed into an all-rounder in the one-day game. Has 32 wickets in 34 ODIs and boasts an impressive batting average of 39.04. His batting will definitely suit Twenty20 but aggressive top-order batsman may punish his bowling.

Tamim Iqbal (20/03/89)

The 18-year-old left-hander is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Bangladesh cricket. He is capable of improvising while at the crease and is considered the biggest hitter of the ball in the squad which and seems naturally suited to the fast-paced Twenty20 game.

Alok Kapali (01/01/84)

A talented but erratic leg-spinner and a batsman of potential he has genuine claims to become a successful all-rounder. Was recalled to the side in place of Shahriar Nafees and has looked good with the bat in Bangladesh's Twenty20 warm-up matches in recent weeks.

Mohammad Mahmudullah (04/02/86)

Impressive performances for Bangladesh A have seen the right-handed batsman given his chance with the full side. Made his only ODI appearance on the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2007, during which he hit 36 and his tidy off-spin captured 2-28.

Mashrafe Mortaza

Mashrafe bin Mortaza (05/10/83)

Fast and aggressive right-arm opening bowler who has an impressive 92 wickets in 69 ODIs but can sometimes be expensive with undisciplined line and length. Also a big-hitting lower order slogger and hit 36, his side's top score, against Zimbabwe in Bangladesh's first Twenty20 international.

Mohammed Nazimuddin (01/10/85)

Top-order batsman who has yet to make his full international debut. A series of good performances for the Bangladesh Under-19 and A sides have seen him called up in favour of more experienced campaigners. Has made six centuries in Bangladesh domestic cricket and averages 48.13.

Mushfiqur Rahim (wkt, 01/09/88)

Made his debut aged just 16 and is seen as having undoubted potential behind the stumps. He scored his maiden half-century against Zimbabwe in February 2007 and has not looked back since taking the gloves off Khaled Mashud, for the World Cup in the West Indies.

Ziaur Rahman (02/12/86)

A right-arm medium-fast bowler who has yet to feature for the full international side but has been part of the Bangladesh Under-19 team. Has an impressive haul of 65 wickets in 20 matches in Bangladesh domestic cricket but is only likely to play if there are injuries.

Syed Rasel (03/07/84)

Left-arm medium-fast bowler who is able to consistently swing the ball at the top level. Has been compared to Chaminda Vaas but has a long way to go to emulate the Sri Lankan's achievements. Captured 44 ODI wickets in 31 matches at an average of 25.88.

Abdur Razzak (15/06/82)

Left-arm orthodox spinner who has 80 ODI victims in 52 matches at an average of 22.85. Bowled tightly on Twenty20 international debut against Zimbabwe to finish with an impressive 3-17. Razzak is a potential all-rounder despite a modest batting average of 12.58.

Farhad Reza (16/06/86)

An inexperienced middle-order batsman who got his chance at international level after scoring the most runs at domestic level. Scored 50 from 57 balls on his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in July 2006 suggesting he could be suited to the aggressive batting required by Twenty20.

Junaid Siddique (30/10/1987)

Uncapped left-handed batsman and occasional right-arm off break bowler who has caught the eye of the selectors while with the Bangladesh A side. The youngster was named in Bangladesh's provisional World Cup 30-man squad but did not make the final cut so may get his chance at Twenty20 level.
