World Cup 2007
Prosper Utseya (26/03/85)
Expected to be confirmed as captain after showing maturity beyond his years when skippering the side to a 3-2 series win over Bangladesh in August 2006. Highly economical orthodox off-spin bowler with 36 one-day wickets.
Gary Brent (13/01/76)
An experienced seam bowler with a useful inswinger, and an excellent slower ball. Made his debut in 1996 and has had a stop-start international career but still has 64 one-day wickets at an average of 34.25.
Chamunorwa Justice Chibhabha (06/09/86)
A promising all-rounder who bats up the order and bowls more-than-useful seamers in the one-day format. The right-hander has a one-day best of 67 and is recognised as one of the top fielders in the Zimbabwe side.
Elton Chigumbura (14/03/86)
An all-rounder and one of Zimbabwe's fastest bowlers but has struggled with injuries which have hampered his development as a bowler. A clean striker of the ball who can provide useful aggression in the middle order. One of Zimbabwe's best players.
Keith Dabengwa (17/08/80)
A useful all-rounder who is a left-hand batsman and bowls orthodox left-arm spin. A small steady batsman and an exceptionally athletic fielder but a player who perhaps lacks confidence and is yet to really fulfil his potential.
Terrence Duffin (20/03/1982)
A stocky left-hand opening batsman and former captain of Zimbabwe who averages over 24 in one-day internationals. Expected to play an anchor role in the innings and made a career best 88 against South Africa in September 2006.
Anthony Ireland (30/08/84)
A tall seam bowler who has made a steady start to his one-day career and has taken 37 wickets in 25 matches. A powerful striker of the ball, he has the ability to provide some useful lower order big-hitting.
Friday Kasteni (25/03/88)
Inexperienced back-up wicketkeeper who made his solitary one-day international appearance in February 2007.
Stuart Matsikenyeri (03/05/83)
The right-handed batsman who also bowls useful off-breaks and is the only survivor from the 2003 World Cup squad. Showed early promise but has struggled against high-quality pace bowling, despite being strong on the cut and pull.
Christopher Mpofu (27/11/85)
A tall seam bowler who hits the pitch hard and can get good movement off the seam but lacks consistency.
Tawanda Mupariwa (16/04/85)
An accurate new ball pace bowler with a slender build who has a good inswinger and a deceptive slower ball. The right-armer has an impressive return of 33 wickets in 19 one-dayers and is a committed fielder.
Edward Rainsford (14/12/84)
Tall right-arm seam bowler who has an excellent yorker. Has been troubled by stress fracture of back and has yet to gain necessary control.
Vusumuzi Sibanda (10/10/83)
A right-handed batsman and a superb timer of the ball who plays predominantly off the front foot but has poor shot selection. He made a career best ODI score of 116 against Bermuda in May 2006.
Brendan Taylor (06/02/1986)
Took over the wicket-keeping gloves following the departure of Tatenda Taibu and has 35 catches and 11 stumpings. An aggressive middle-order batsman who has a healthy average of 28 in 60 one-day matches but can be guilty of suffering from poor footwork.
Sean Williams (26/09/86)
A left-handed top-order batsman and more-than-useful left-arm spinner. Being groomed as a future captain and successfully skippered the Under-19 side to a notable a win over England during the Under-19 World Cup in February 2006.
