Rain wipes out Canterbury clash

St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury rain

Persistent rain ruined the Bank Holiday weekend plans of fans hoping to watch Kent versus Durham in the Clydesdale Bank 40

The Clydesdale Bank 40 clash between Group C sides Kent and Durham was abandoned without a ball bowled at Canterbury.

Umpires Richard Kettleborough and Rob Bailey held a cursory inspection of the sodden St Lawrence ground at 1.50pm and duly called the match off, awarding each side a point.

The washout delayed the debut of Kent’s overseas signing, South Africa pace bowler Makhaya Ntini, who joined the Spitfires six days ago.
