Marshall makes hay in MCCU match
Hamish Marshall cracked an unbeaten century as Gloucestershire and Cambridge MCCU played out a draw at Fenner’s.
In a match that saw young seamers David Payne and Liam Norwell return from injury, the latter claiming five wickets, Gloucestershire declared their second innings on 234 for three to leave the university side a target of 253.
Cambridge made good progress to 144 for two, thanks largely to Satyajit Satbhai’s 64 and 40s from Ben Ackland and James Johnson, before finishing on 189 for five.
The visitors had been reduced to 227 all out on day one as Robert Woolley returned 5-48. Cambridge replied with 209 before Marshall’s 102, together with 55 not out from Ian Cockbain, set up an intriguing finale.
