Hamilton-Brown thwarted by rain
Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown hit 38 off 26 balls but it was all in vain after the Clydesdale Bank 40 Group B clash with Hampshire was abandoned because of rain at the Kia Oval.
The match had already been reduced to 29 overs when Hamilton-Brown and Steven Davies mocked Hampshire's decision to put Surrey in by racing to 61 in six overs.
Hamilton-Brown made his intentions plain by hitting the third ball of the match from Dimitri Mascarenhas straight back over his head for four and handed out similar treatment to Kabir Ali at the other end.
Davies was also going well with 25 off 14 balls, including five fours, when he was superbly caught by Liam Dawson at slip off Danny Briggs' third ball - but the rain then came after eight overs.
Hamilton-Brown’s innings included eight boundaries, but Surrey were forced to abandon their quest with the score on 76 for one with the defending CB40 champions having dropped their first point in five matches of this season's campaign.
