George Dockrell's 3-15 from four overs aided Ireland's six-wicket defeat of Kenya, who were restricted to 107 all out at Mombassa

George Dockrell’s three wickets set up Ireland’s comfortable six-wicket win over Kenya in the first of three Twenty20 internationals at Mombassa.

The 19-year-old left-arm spinner, who took the new ball once the tourists chose to field, snared opening batsmen Morris Ouma and Duncan Allan before returning to remove Shem Ngoche in the penultimate over en route to figures of 3-15 from four.

That and two wickets apiece for Max Sorensen and Alex Cusack helped limit Kenya to 107 all out from 20 overs, a total that owed much to Tanmay Mishra’s 34 and 25 from Ragheb Aga; the duo added 48 for the fifth wicket.

Ireland slipped to 35 for three in the powerplay but Kevin O’Brien and Ed Joyce launched a recovery, which leg-spinner Collins Obuya dented by having the latter caught and bowled for 24.

However, O’Brien went on to top-score for the tourists with 30 not out as he and John Mooney completed victory with four-and-a-half overs to spare.
