Pakistan concluded their Women's World Twenty20 campaign on a high with a tense one-run victory over India.

With both sides already eliminated from the competition following defeats to England and Australia, there was nothing more than pride to play for in this encounter.

Sana Mir’s team duly prevailed, the skipper top-scoring with 26 in a Pakistan total of 98 for nine before securing victory at the death.

Mir bowled the final over of India’s innings with 14 still required, but that target had been reduced to four ahead of the ultimate delivery, from which Nagarajan Niranjana was run out attempting a third that would have tied the scores.

India therefore closed on 97 for eight, with Nida Dar’s return of 3-12 from four overs proving crucial.

Jhulan Goswami, Rasanara Parwin and Anuja Patil had claimed two wickets apiece after Pakistan chose to bat.
