Gibson tops PCA rankings
Ottis Gibson capped a momentous week by being named as the MVP in the Friends Provident Trophy.
The 38-year-old all-rounder’s place at the top of the PCA rankings was confirmed by his man-of-the-match display in Durham’s victory over Hampshire in the final at the weekend.
He took 3-24 to complement his unbeaten 15 off just seven balls, helping Durham to a 125-run win - and their first piece of silverware - as well as continuing his excellent form this year.
Gibson also sits top of the overall PCA rankings, which rates players on their performances in all competitions, thanks in no small part to his 10-wicket haul against Hampshire in the LV County Championship earlier this season.
Phil Mustard, Gibson’s team-mate, hit 49 off 38 balls to set up Durham’s total of 312 for five at Lord's and climb to fourth place in the Friends Provident rankings.
Warwickshire all-rounder and captain Darren Maddy is second in the MVP rankings, with Sussex leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed third.
