Martin van Jaarsveld has climbed back to the top of the PCA MVP thanks to a sensational week with bat and ball.
The South African assumes joint top spot with Tim Bresnan following the finest all-round individual performance by any player this season in Kent’s LV County Championship victory over Surrey.
Van Jaarsveld hit an unbeaten century in each innings and took 5-33 – his first bowl of the summer – to help Kent to a four-wicket win at the Brit Oval.
He scored 43% of Kent’s runs in the match and now has 30% of their total runs this season.
Bresnan’s fine form shows no sign of falling away, returning match figures of 5-94 as Yorkshire were beaten by Durham at Headingley Carnegie to ensure he remains top of the LVCC MVP.
Samit Patel consolidated his position in the top three of the overall MVP with 65 runs and two wickets in Nottinghamshire’s victory against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl, while Kent’s Yasir Arafat lies fourth and Ryan ten Doeschate climbs to fifth after hitting 118 and 55 as well as taking 4-29 in the second innings of Essex’s triumph over Derbyshire.
Kent have four players in the top 10 – Ryan McLaren is sixth and Yasir Arafat 10th – sandwiching Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara, Leicestershire’s Jim Allenby and Anthony McGrath of Yorkshire.
