Biography
A correct, upright batsman, Alex Wakely has been in and out of the Northamptonshire side but shown flickers of a determined style at the crease. Wakely was educated at Bedford School and played Minor Counties cricket for Bedfordshire. He made his debut for Northamptonshire Second XI as a 15-year-old, making two half-centuries, and was tipped for big things from an early age. An Under-19 call-up followed for the tour of Sri Lanka and Malaysia in 2006/07 and he impressed with an innings of 108 off 140 balls.
